About the Team
PROJECT OWNER: FACING HOMELESSNESS
In 2017, BLOCK Architects enlisted Facing Homelessness to take ownership of the BLOCK Project and bring it to the community. Facing Homelessness is a 501(c)(3) organization building a new awareness about our relationship to those experiencing homelessness. What began as a photo-journal project on Facebook in 2010 has grown into a global movement to end homelessness through community. With more than 50,000 social media followers and seven years of impact, Facing Homelessness is positioned to shift the paradigm.
PROJECT ORIGINATOR: BLOCK ARCHITECTS
The BLOCK Project concept was created by BLOCK Architects - Seattle’s social justice architecture firm - in 2016. Rex Hohlbein and Jenn LaFreniere designed the BLOCK Home with the goal of setting a new precedent in housing solutions for people experiencing homelessness. BLOCK Architects designs, permits, and manages construction of BLOCK Homes.
