The Browand Family

Taking the leap to become team leaders for the BLOCK Project was one of the best decisions we’ve ever made.

WHAT IS A BLOCK PROJECT TEAM LEADER?

A BLOCK Project Team Leader is an individual, family, group, team, or company that sponsors a BLOCK Resident by raising $35,000 to build a BLOCK Home. Team Leaders can directly contribute the funds, or leverage their networks to raise the funds over a 30-60 day period. Team Leaders are given first priority for Community Build Days and are invited to offer ongoing support to their BLOCK Resident.

WHAT IS THE DURATION OF A BLOCK HOME CAMPAIGN?

We recommend that your campaign launch to completion duration range between 30 and 60 days. We suggest building in a 30 day planning period prior to your campaign launch.

HOW MUCH TIME DOES THE AVERAGE TEAM LEADER COMMIT TO FUNDRAISING?

While every campaign is different, most successful Team Leaders commit at least 10 hours planning and customizing materials prior to the campaign launch. During the 30-60 day campaign, most Team Leaders spend 2-3 hours per week contacting and following-up with their network. Team Leaders that choose to host an event spend 10-15 hours planning and hosting.

WHAT TOOLS AND MATERIALS ARE PROVIDED TO SUPPORT TEAM LEADERS?

Team Leaders are provided with:

    • Custom campaign page and strategy session with FH: We will build and make you an administrator on your own campaign page, where you can add your story and a photo by FH photographer Rex Hohlbein. Additionally, you will receive a 1-on-1 strategy session with a FH representative.

    • Educational materials: Checklists, tactics, and strategies for a successful campaign.

    • Promotional materials and templates: Brochures, mailers, emails, social media posts, invitations, and more -- all customizable for your campaign and network.

    • FH speakers for private events: A FH representative will attend and speak at your event(s).

    • On-call support from the Facing Homelessness Team: Please contact Jennifer (jennifer@facinghomelessness.org) with any questions, at any time.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I CAN’T RAISE THE FUNDS?

In your fundraising plan, you will designate check-in dates with the FH Team. If you are not making progress as projected, we will initiate a support plan, which could include revising your strategy and tactics, sharing your campaign page on the Facing Homelessness Facebook page, and/or combining your campaign with another Team Leader’s campaign.
