BLOCK Home #9 Makes Cross-Country Trip to Seattle
On Saturday, November 2nd, BLOCK Home 9 made its dramatic Seattle entrance. The home was built by Arch Nexus in Salt Lake City, shipped to Seattle, and craned into Keith and Audrey’s backyard in Beacon Hill. BLOCK Home 9 is built to be the most sustainable home on the block, featuring solar panels, a composting toilet, and a system that filters rainwater into potable drinking water. Many of the sustainable features in this BLOCK Home are the first of their kind to be permitted by the City of Seattle in a residential setting.
THANK YOU to Arch Nexus for building this cutting-edge home, to Schuchart for managing all post-delivery logistics, to Jeff and Meredith Browand and their many friends and family members who funded BLOCK Home #9, to BLOCK Architects for advancing the environmental and social justice goals of The BLOCK Project, and to our dozens of key partners across the green building and design industry. We are forever grateful.
