Host a BLOCK Home
For more information about eligibility, what it means to be a Host, and how to walk with someone who has experienced homelessness contact phoebe@facinghomelessness.org.
Help build a BLOCK Home
We are a community built project - which means we would love to have you come help us build! Stay tuned for our new workshop location information and volunteer schedule.
Help landscape a backyard
We are so thankful for the hosts that have invited us into their backyards! We have lots of volunteer opportunities from helping us clear, weed, dig, and plant! If you like spending time outside with other amazing people - please sign up!
Volunteer as a group
We offer a variety of volunteer opportunities for groups and teams. From landscaping work to building houses in the BLOCK Shop, we have a place for people at every experience level to come together in a safe environment to connect, grow, build, and make a difference.
Fundraise
We are a grassroots funded project - which means every person counts! A BLOCK Project Team Leader is an individual, family, group, team, or company that sponsors a BLOCK Resident by raising $35,000 to build a BLOCK Home. Team Leaders can directly contribute the funds, or leverage their networks to raise the funds over a 30-60 day period.
Support Residents
Join in welcoming a new resident to their BLOCK Home by procuring items for a Welcome Home Kit. A Kit typically includes towels, bedding, kitchenware, and cleaning supplies. This is a beautiful way to ensure that a resident has all of the essentials as they move into their new home.
Become a Resident
BLOCK Residents are referred to the BLOCK Project by one of our partner agencies; Chief Seattle Club, Sound Health, REST, or Mary's Place. Potential BLOCK residents must have at least six months working with one of the above agencies in order to be referred. BLOCK Homes are located in residential neighborhoods throughout the city of Seattle and prospective Residents and Hosts are matched based on location and common interests. If you are interested, please contact your case manager at one of the above agencies.
